Bordeaux - west coast of France, produces well known wines, and in particlular, 'reds' e.g. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
White wines are made from the Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Muscadelle grapes.
In Burgundy, well know grapes are Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
North of Burgundy is famous for Champagne. Cremants are less expensive, and are sparkling wines made outside the Champagne region - but produced in exactly the same way.
